AKS-74U “KRINKOV” TRANSFERABLE MACHINE GUN PERFECT SOVIET CLONE

AKS-74U “KRINKOV” TRANSFERABLE MACHINE GUN PERFECT SOVIET CLONE

This is the closest copy of the Soviet AKS-74U assault rifle you will find!

It was built with

incredible attention to detail as a custom order by the renowned Class II manufacturer,

Mike Friend, at The Firing Line. This transferable AK machine gun originally started

as a semi-automatic, Chinese-imported Type 56S / AKM47S rifle, which was later

converted into a select-fire automatic machine gun. After acquiring it, we sent it to

The Firing Line in Oklahoma to be reconfigured into an AKS-74U clone. The build

utilizes a Bulgarian parts kit and a Russian parts kit to create a perfect copy of the

Soviet AKS-74U.

However, it maintains the 7.62x39mm caliber by utilizing a new, unissued Bulgarian

barrel and bolt. The remaining components came from a Soviet AKS-74U parts kit. This

conversion took over a week to complete, as Mike Friend rebuilt the firearm from the

ground up at The Firing Line. All rivet holes were welded and remachined to replicate

the correct factory rivet pattern. To further enhance the accuracy of the build, he

replicated all of the factory receiver markings, making it an amazingly detailed

replication of an Izhmash-made Russian model. (The NFA-registered machine gun

receiver also retains its legally required original manufacturer markings).

Mechanically, this machine gun runs flawlessly at approximately 800 rounds per minute,

just as one would expect a high-quality AK machine gun to fire. This model is in like-

new condition and has not been fired outside of testing and evaluation by The Firing

Line.

In Russian military nomenclature, the history of the AKS-74U stems from "Avtomat

Kalashnikova Skladnoy Ukorochenniy" which translates to Kalashnikov Automatic

Rifle, Folding, Shortened. Here is a quick breakdown of what each letter in the

designation means:

  • A – Avtomat (Automatic rifle)

  • K – Kalashnikova (Designed by Kalashnikov)

  • S – Skladnoy (Folding stock)

  • 74 – Year of adoption (1974)

  • U – Ukorochenniy (Shortened)

Developed in the late 1970s, the AKS-74U is essentially a compact carbine variant of

the standard-issue AK-74. It was designed primarily for special forces, airborne

troops, and vehicle crews.
